The famous privateer Lars Gathenhielm (“Lasse in the Street”) is said never to have found rest in his grave at Onsala church. On stormy autumn nights he is said to ride toward the house at Stigbergstorget — and hoofbeats can be heard on the stones.

Facts: When Lars's coffin was opened in the 1940s, his legs were found bound together with a sheet — a traditional method to prevent the dead from “walking again”. It is also said that he knocks from inside his marble sarcophagus if anyone speaks ill of him. The house was built 1743–1747 and is Gothenburg's only preserved 18th-century wooden mansion of the high bourgeoisie.
