Risinge Manor

Fyn, Kerteminde · Denmark · Herrgård · Scare 3/5

A white lady suddenly sits in the back seat of the taxi as you drive past the manor at night. The driver should never look back.

Risinge Manor outside Kerteminde on Funen is not haunted within the manor grounds themselves — but it is never a good idea to drive past it on the country road after midnight. Local taxi drivers in Kerteminde all have someone to point to: a colleague who drove past one late evening, alone in the car, when he suddenly saw a white lady sitting in the back seat in the rear-view mirror.

He made the mistake of turning around and looking directly. The lady sat there, completely still. Fear seized him; he pressed the accelerator to the floor and drove home at top speed, jumped out of the car without turning off the engine, and without collecting payment from his peculiar passenger. The car was found in the yard the next morning — the passenger was gone. The legend says the white lady haunts that very country road.
