Riber Kjærgaard

Jylland, Ribe · Denmark · Herrgård · Scare 4/5

Maiden Lange watched her beloved being murdered. If a young couple meets her at the Blue Lodge, their love will vanish.

Riber Kjærgaard southwest of Ribe was owned in the 1500s by knight Niels Lange. His sister and a handsome archer at the estate loved each other and met in secret at a blue-painted lodge on the forest edge. When Niels Lange found out, he had a farmhand murder the archer on a moonlit evening — he made sure his sister witnessed it all.

From that night, maiden Lange was never quite human again. She wandered restlessly until death freed her, and thereafter a veiled lady left the castle every night at twelve and walked toward the Blue Lodge. Should she meet a young couple on the way, their love will vanish — or worse, their firstborn child will go mad. The local people still avoid the path after midnight.
