Lerbæk Hovedgaard
Jylland, Frederikshavn · Denmark · Herrgård · Scare 4/5
A poltergeist moves guests' belongings. Hoofbeats across the moat bridge. The horses in the stable stare at one specific corner.
Lerbæk Hovedgaard near Frederikshavn is one of Vendsyssel's most haunted estates. During the Great Northern War, Peter Tordenskjold held war prisoners locked in the cellar vaults, and from there heavy, dragging footsteps can still be heard in the nights. In the main house lives a poltergeist that moves guests' belongings around — suitcases are opened, clothes are rearranged, watches are found in wrong places.
Out in the yard, things become quite peculiar. Hoofbeats are heard over the old cobblestones and over the bridge crossing the moat, even when no horses are out. The White Lady is seen at the moat where she once drowned. In the old stable, which was previously a pigsty, the horses often stare at one specific corner of the ceiling — guidance about the hauntings is still provided personally by the family.
