It is said that King Karl X Gustav's presence can still be sensed in the grand halls, especially during the cold winter months. A memorial plaque on the façade marks the place of his death.
Facts: The house was built 1648–1650 for Count Lennart Torstenson. The king fell ill with influenza during the 1660 Riksdag, which developed into pneumonia and blood poisoning. He died on the night of 13 February, only 37 years old, after telling his physician: “I have never feared death”.
