Kragerup Gods

The White Lady Gertrud rides into the park every night when the clock strikes twelve — she prefers room number eight.

Kragerup Gods dates historically back to 1327 and is run today as a farm, hotel and conference facility. In the main building hangs a portrait that no one has been able to identify — a woman in a light dress from an unclear time. It is she whom the estate owner calls "The White Lady" and with whom the Dinesen family has learned to live.

Birgitte Dinesen herself has said it plainly: "This is Gertrud, who is our house ghost. She comes riding in the park every night, when the tower clock strikes twelve." Guests have seen her moving along the avenues, but it is in room number eight that she prefers to stay — and more than one overnight stay there has ended with a rebooking at breakfast.
