Hvedholm Castle Hotel

Fyn, Faaborg · Denmark · Slottshotell · Scare 4/5

A bare arm in green silk and lace reached across the dinner table in the Knights' Hall. The body was never found.

The Renaissance castle Hvedholm in South Funen was built in 1587, with the tower added in 1880. Today it operates as a castle hotel with both dining hall and conference facilities. In the Knights' Hall, during a dinner party, something occurred that none of the guests could explain—a woman's arm in green silk with lace slowly reached across the table, right in the middle of serving, before withdrawing. The body that arm belonged to has never been seen.

In the blue salon stands a green cushion with an embroidered coat of arms. Every morning the cushion lies turned the wrong way—even though staff place it correctly every evening. Some suspect it is the green arm at work, others that it is another female figure who prefers that particular cushion. Either way—the green is everywhere at Hvedholm.
