Hotel Østersøen (Siemsens Gaard)

Bornholm, Svaneke · Denmark · Hotell · Scare 4/5

In the bridal suite, an old lady in black appeared in the shower — the furniture was visible right through her.

The old merchant house in Svaneke dates from 1771 and has been run as a hotel under several names — the former Hotel Jons Kapel burned down in October 1988. The bridal suite is room number 19 and is the hotel's finest room, but a guest who checked in there had an experience he would never forget.

The man was in the shower when he suddenly began to feel cold — as if someone was staring at him. He pulled back the curtain and saw an old lady with piercing eyes, gray hair in a bun, a black dress with white lace, and a brooch at her neck. The furniture in the room behind her was visible right through her form. She turned on her heel and vanished. The lady is believed to be the artist Emma Løffler (1843–1929), who spent her final years on Bornholm.
