Hôtel Eggers (Room 397)

Västra Götaland · Sweden · Hotell · Scare 3/5

The strict liquor cashier Ebba Eggers is said never to have left the hotel — especially room 397.

Ebba Eggers, wife of the hotel director and the establishment's strict liquor cashier, is said never to have left the business. Guests and staff report that she primarily haunts room 397, where she watches over order. It is said that the nights here sometimes feel “a little too alive” and that unexplained phenomena occur at night.

Facts: Ebba (born Svenander) ruled the hotel with an iron hand between 1942 and 1948. She was known for her strict edicts; among other things, the cleaning staff were forced to pay out of pocket for anything broken in the guest rooms — once causing an employee to break down because a soap dish cost half a month's wages. Ebba died tragically on 12 February 1948 in a plane crash with the aircraft “Sejr Viking” near Frankfurt, Germany, during a study trip on hotel interior design.
