Harridslevgaard Castle
Fyn, Bogense · Denmark · Slott · Scare 5/5
Funen's most haunted castle. Anne Lykke was beheaded for witchcraft in 1641. A man must every night ride his pregnant sister to death.
Harridslevgaard Castle near Bogense is considered the most haunted castle on all of Funen. The Viking chieftain Palnatoke from the first half of the 900s is buried in Loddenhøj on the estate's lands and is said to haunt there. Anne Lykke (died 1641) won Prince Christian's affection with the help of the witch woman Lamme Heine — she was sentenced to death and beheaded, and still moves through the castle corridors.
One of the estate's former owners had an incestuous relationship with his sister. When she became pregnant, he dragged her to death behind his horse. Every night he must, according to legend, repeat the ride with his sister's screams behind him. There is also a man in the tower in gold-trimmed uniform and broad-brimmed hat with glowing eyes, as well as Lieutenant Colonel Hagedorn (died 1740) and General Lieutenant Bardenfleth (died 1810) — the latter is said to have been able to separate his servant's soul from his body.
